Interacting

  • I don't have a dni bc who cares tbh, but Terfs I am just gonna block u so why bother

  • Minors: I'm an adult & I mostly assume my followers and most other people on ye olde public internet are too. I don't filter things to a specific nominors tag or check bios before interacting with posts so if you don't want me to pls block me, and make sure ur using any filters u need

  • Content warnings: Tags ('thing cw' or 'thing //') used where it feels warranted, and for strobing and unreality in particular. pls note that I'm kind of forgetful and also that the tone of my interests leans darker.

  • I don't tag; discussions of politics, general horror visuals (unless particularly gruesome for the canon, where I might use 'gore //'), and some references to canon content of my main fandom's texts, eg meta or posts that don't themselves depict the upsetting thing. (Realistically I rarely put anything graphic or ~ really dark ~ on the dash, so while I'm happy for people to let me know if there's something obvious I'm blogging about often that typically isn't being filtered out please keep in mind the tone of the content I post in general. I've had several ppl ask me to tag for their triggers in ways that are functionally impossible (requiring me to acccurately predict how you interpret every given scene or theme in canon and what kind of depiction or post about it would then be upsetting) or impractical, like re-tagging words in a post that would be picked up by content filters.

Blog content

I dip in and out of a lot of fandoms, mostly in TV. Across media I'm mostly drawn to texts & themes that explore/overlap with the following;

  • Intertextuality (Black Sails, True Detective, Disco Elysium, iwtv)

  • Tragedy (Black Sails, brba/bcs, Succession, spn unfortunately)

  • Hauntings & Horror (spn, Twin Peaks, Hannibal)

  • The potential for fiction to narrate and untangle Power (books by Le Guin, disco, sw: andor, iwtv, succession, black sails again)

The tags below are a lot to do with applying personal interests & meaning to the rorsarch smudge that is spn, after irreversibly imprinting on Sam Winchester as a teen, but I use most of them for everything now

Tagging system:

General: - title of media property // - art - films - horror. (Some characters have tags but only my bestest loved atm)

Commonly used thematic tags atm:
- Horror of place - tag name based on Bachelard's 'The Poetics of Space'; the horrific potential of haunted or monstrous places. Thinking about things like Nassau in Black Sails, the Winchester family house in spn, etc)
- Home is a mouth (more of the same but specific to the family home)
- Cursed (by) family (on generational curses, trauma expressed thru the supernatural, & circular narratives. this tag is very spn heavy as it started as a winchester family tag & expanded since.)
- Hole theory (holes are ontologically parasitic!!! they cannot exist in isolation!!! Some characters are holes. Some stories are holes also.)
- Poetics of the machine age (catch all for tech stuff; computing, digital ghosts, eroticism of the machine, etc
- God is a haunting (despite the name a very Atheist tag honestly. On the empty space where divinity should be, and knowing that nobody is coming to save you)
- Ghosts / - Monsters (self explanatory)
- Vessels (also began life as a spn tag, abt possession of the material body, the body as its own kind of haunted house)

* AN UNFORTUNATE DISCLAIMER:
Pls ignore many of the tags this broken ass site says are "commonly used" despite this blog's entire archive having been cleared more than once.
I've had this blog since I was 13 and it's gone through many lives, including its inception as a Bandom blog. Particularly tags referring to a certain disgraced emo-frontman-turned-cult-leader. 14-16 yr old me had Godawful Taste, but idk why tumblr still thinks I'm blogging about that man long after The Horrors became clear to everyone who liked his band and then to the rest of the world.
